KIDS EDUCATION AWARENESS INITIATIVE (KEAIN)

WHO WE ARE

We are independent, non-political, non-governmental and non-profit organization. KEAIN was founded in March 2006 with Headquarters in Enugu. We are registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria. KEAIN is committed to helping all children who are in need especially those living in poverty.  KEAIN is working towards elimination of child poverty and all forms of abuses against the child in Nigeria. 

KEAIN is dedicated and committed to promoting children’s rights. Kids Education Awareness Initiative provides a strong, effective voice for all the children of Nigeria who cannot vote, lobby, or speak for themselves. We pay particular attention to the needs of children living in poverty, orphaned, abused, and street children.

KEAIN educates the nation about the needs of the poor children especially the orphans and encourages preventive investment before they get sick or into trouble, drop out of school, or suffer family breakdown.

OUR MISSION 

To empower the poor and disadvantaged children affected by poverty in other to lift themselves out of poverty with dignity through  education, skills acquisition and other forms of assistance.

A world free from child poverty, where every orphaned, handicapped and poor child will be empowered through education.

 OUR OBJECTIVES

The aims and objectives of Kids Education Awareness Initiative include the following:

1.      To ensure that every impoverished child has access to education to enable them break the cycle of poverty through financial assistance.

2.      Develop, promote and monitor policies and actions to end child poverty.

3.      To create awareness on how to train up a child the way he should go.

4.      Promote public awareness and understanding of child poverty.

5.      Promote the girl child education in Nigeria.

6.      Provide mutual support on issues of shared concern relating to children and poverty.

7.      Promote the participation of children and young people experiencing poverty in policy making.

8.      To develop in the entire citizenry a strong consciousness for child abuse and a strong commitment to its vigorous eradication, through advocacy, research and public enlightenment.

9.      Encourage local action to end child poverty.

10.  To educate people, as to the causes and effects of child poverty and their obligation to respond.

11.  To increase understanding about child abuse and provide advice and support on positive parenting.

12.  To persuade government, legislative body and opinion-formers to put children's issues at the top of the political agenda.

13.  To collaborate with other organizations and coalitions with similar aims and objectives

Kids Education Awareness Initiative programmes falls into these categories:

• Promote greater awareness of child poverty and to effect change in public policy in order to eliminate child poverty in Nigeria.
• Ensuring that the millennium development goals are met, we believe in “give a man a fish and feed him for a day - teach a man to fish and you feed him for life”.
• Monitoring the government’s poverty alleviation programmes and social security for children.
• Conducting research and engaging in advocacy that informs appropriate legislative policy and programme development and implementation.
• Proposing solutions through workshops/seminars/conferences and trainings.
• Educates and empowers parents, advocates for children and increases public awareness about plight of children affected by non-support.
